Flora and fauna lovers rejoice! In this class, we will blend nature and hand-building techniques together to produce unique works of art. Participants will make sprigs (a press-molded clay piece added to leather hard work) and sprig molds from found natural objects using clay.* We will then construct forms from slabs using slump and drape molds and experiment mixing colored clays. The colored clay will be pressed into provided sprig molds and used to create inlaid mosaic-like patterns on the surface of the slab forms.
Participants should bring a lunch to enjoy outside during the 30-minute break at 1:00pm. All levels are welcome. Course fee includes individual attention/instruction for one person, clay and bisque/glaze firing for two pieces.** Want to keep all your handmade pieces? We can make it happen. *The sprig molds you make will not be able to be used on this project because the clay mold must be bisque fired. Students will receive these molds with their finished works to be used on their future projects.
Registration/payment is required to secure your space in this class. NHCP encourages all participants be vaccinated against Covid-19. Class participation is recommended for ages 16 and older. Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment of four is not met three days prior to the scheduled class date. Additional class dates or full reimbursement will be offered for those who sign up for a canceled class. Click here for our CANCELLATION POLICY. **Firing fees for additional works are collected at the studio after the conclusion of the event. Please allow for firing of the work; pieces will be ready and available before one month after your class date. We will store the pieces for a maximum of 3 months after the workshop unless other arrangements have been made.
